This week brings intensified cosmic energy as Pluto stations retrograde at 05°30' Aquarius on Wednesday, amplifying the dwarf planet's transformative influence for the entire period. Pluto's alignment with the fixed star Alpha Microscopii increases the likelihood of revelations and hidden truths coming to light, while challenging aspects throughout the week call for patience and emotional mastery. Those with natal planets at 4-7 degrees of fixed signs (Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, Aquarius) will feel these energies most directly as we navigate this powerful period of cosmic detoxification and renewal.

PLUTO MAGNIFIED:
Pluto's influence is amplified throughout the coming week, due to being at a standstill as it prepares to go retrograde this Wednesday. The dwarf planet stations at 05°30' Aquarius on May 6, but is at that exact degree and minute for two full weeks, from April 30 to May 13. Those who have natal planets or points at 4 to 7 degrees of a fixed sign (Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, or Aquarius) are likely to feel the planet's effects most directly at this time.
Pluto has multiple personas, each with a higher purpose. As the God of the Underworld, the dwarf planet takes us on a journey of death and rebirth, transmutation and regeneration. As the Psychotherapist, it brings to the surface emotions that have been suppressed or repressed, so that they no longer control us from behind the scenes.
As the Catalyst, Pluto activates a process of detoxification, purging that which is detrimental from our individual and collective systems. As the Great Revealer, it exposes truths and divulges secrets. As the agent of Empowerment, it shows us where and how we have been living in fear or denial, so that we might reclaim our power. And, as the transpersonal planet of Divine Will, Pluto reminds us that there are greater forces at work in the cosmos, and that there are some things that are beyond our ego's control.
FIXED STAR ACTIVATION:
As it stations, Pluto is at the same degree as a fixed star called Alpha Microscopii. Alpha Microscopii is the lead star in a constellation that forms the figure of a microscope. As we might surmise from its name, this star represents the ability to focus our attention on minute details, revealing truths that most never see.
Pluto's alignment with this fixed star increases the likelihood of revelations this week, of truths coming to the surface and of details becoming clear. Thankfully, according to astrologer Roderick Kidston, the star also provides "the ability to work with a mass of material and make sense of it."
Alpha Microscopii also supports us in sharing the information we gather; for example, both of the Grimm brothers, who devoted years to researching and writing folk and fairy tales, had Alpha Microscopii in prominent places in their birth charts. In the realm of communicating spiritual truths, both Saint Bernadette of Lourdes and religious teacher Swami Vivekananda were born with Mercury conjunct the fixed star.
ASPECTS THIS WEEK:
Here are my brief interpretations of this week's most important aspects, day by day:
DAILY ASPECTS THIS WEEK (May 4 to 10, 2026):
Monday
Venus semisquare Chiron: Insecurities could arise in relationships today, with some experiencing the wound of feeling unloved or unlovable. As with all Chiron aspects, our healing is facilitated by acknowledging, accepting, and loving the part of us that is feeling fearful.
Mars square Jupiter: People may be impatient, impulsive, defensive, or reactive with this challenging aspect.
Tuesday
Mercury square Pluto, Mercury sextile North Node: Suspicious minds and a stubborn resistance to new ideas can trigger power struggles today. However, we can ease tensions by centering in our hearts before speaking, and by holding compassion and understanding for those whose beliefs may be different from ours.
Wednesday
Pluto stations: Pluto comes to a standstill at 8:34 a.m. PDT today. The dwarf planet will be retrograde for five months, from May 6 to October 15. During this five-month period, we are called to go deeper, to understand underlying motivations, and to transmute the darker aspects of our individual and collective personas. Pluto's retrograde phase requires both self-discipline and emotional self-mastery.
Thursday
Neptune conjunct Pallas Athena: The mind is especially imaginative, original, and intuitive under this influence. Some may also become involved in social reform activities and human rights struggles.
Friday
Sun semisquare Neptune: We may lack clarity today about what we truly value or want to create in our lives. This aspect is best utilized in artistic or spiritual endeavors rather than on practical matters.
Saturday
No major aspects are exact today.
Sunday
Sun sextile Jupiter: This aspect supports a hopeful attitude and our belief in something greater than ourselves.
Venus sesquiquadrate Pluto: There could be some disruptions in relationships today due to underlying trust issues.
