July 2026 arrives with a cosmic fanfare as astrologers have long anticipated this month's history-making planetary alignments. A rare "cradle" configuration involving Jupiter, Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto is forming in the heavens, promising to accelerate evolutionary change and spiritual growth for all of humanity. The week opens with a powerful Capricorn Full Moon that activates the energies of "the Great Unraveling," a process set in motion by the Saturn-Neptune conjunction last February. Add Mercury stationing retrograde and Jupiter entering Leo to the mix, and this week sets the tone for one of the most profound periods in recent collective memory.
This Week's Overview:
- The Capricorn Full Moon on Monday powerfully activates the Saturn-Neptune midpoint, amplifying themes of illusion, disillusionment, and the tension between dreams and reality.
- Mercury stations retrograde in Cancer through July 23, inviting a three-week period of emotional reflection, reconsidering decisions, and deepening self-understanding.
- Jupiter enters fiery Leo on Monday and will remain there through July 2027, magnifying both the inspirational and shadow potentials of Leo on a grand collective scale.
- Mars moves through a powerful sequence of aspects — conjunct Uranus on Friday, sextile Neptune on Saturday, and trine Pluto on Sunday — activating the rare "cradle" configuration that peaks in mid-July.
- Wednesday's Jupiter square Chiron stirs insecurities around basic needs and stability, while also opening a healing doorway for the inner child who feels overwhelmed by rapid change.

Aspects of Note this Week:
Times and dates use Pacific Daylight Time (PDT). Add 7 hours for Universal Time (UT).
Monday: Mercury stations retrograde, Full Moon at 4:56 pm PDT 08°14′ Capricorn, Mars square nodal axis, Jupiter enters Leo
Tuesday: Venus sesquiquadrate Neptune
Wednesday: Mars conjunct Sedna, Jupiter square Chiron
Thursday: Mercury square Eris, Saturn sextile Ceres
Friday: Mars conjunct Uranus
Saturday: Mars sextile Neptune
Sunday: Mars trine Pluto, Venus trine Eris
Forecast: June 29 to July 5, 2026
AND SO IT BEGINS: Astrologers have been anticipating and forecasting the history-making potentials of July 2026 for many, many years, due to the highly catalytic planetary aspects that will perfect over the course of the month. With Mars entering Gemini today (June 28) and Jupiter entering Leo tomorrow (June 29), the energies are already aligning for what promises to be a profound period in our collective and individual journeys.
At the heart of the activity is the formation of an extremely rare "cradle" configuration involving Jupiter and the three transpersonal planets (Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto). This is a long-term influence that will be strongest in the middle of July, but is activated this week by energizer Mars as it conjoins Uranus in Gemini (Friday), sextiles Neptune in Aries (Saturday), and trines Pluto in Aquarius (Sunday).
In the cradle itself, the three outermost planets are all in harmonious aspect, accelerating the flow of evolutionary change and spiritual growth for humanity. Facilitating this process, Jupiter is in easy aspect to Uranus and Neptune—but the Giant Planet is in a confrontational aspect with Pluto. The extreme tension of that dramatic Jupiter-Pluto opposition (exact on July 19) acts as a triggering mechanism, setting a domino effect into action.
I'll be talking about this cradle (or basket) configuration in depth in my webinar next week, and will of course write more about its effects in this Journal over the weeks to come.
CAPRICORN FULL MOON: The current lunar cycle that began with the Gemini New Moon on June 14 reaches its climax point either late Monday or early Tuesday this week, depending on your time zone. For those on Pacific Daylight Time, the Full Moon perfects at 4:56 p.m. PDT on June 29, when the Moon is at 08°14′ Capricorn, opposite the Sun at the same degree of Cancer.
The significance of this lunation is primarily due to its activation of the energies of "the Great Unraveling," a process that was initiated by the Saturn-Neptune conjunction last February. With Saturn now at 14° Aries and Neptune at 4° of the sign, the Full Moon is in hard square aspect to both of the outer planets, and strongly activating the midpoint between the two (at 09°44′).
Astrologer Noel Tyl lists these qualities as being part of the Saturn-Neptune midpoint picture: "losing focus of ambition; giving up under stress; denial or depression, sense of being deceived or wronged."
Astrologer Rob Hand writes that Saturn-Neptune can manifest as both "confusion about what is and is not real" and "the ability to bring dreams or ideals into concrete realization."
It seems cosmically astute that this lunation should occur at the threshold of July—signaling that we are entering another phase of the Great Unraveling and setting core themes for the events that will unfold over the next couple of weeks.
WEBINAR NEXT WEEK: I hope you can join us for my webinar on Wednesday, July 8! My title for the class and theme for these next three months is "Off to the Races: The Fire Horse Accelerates." During the class, I'll share my perspectives on the dynamic planetary energies we'll be working with in July, August, and September—including the rare "cradle" configuration that will perfect in mid-July and the powerful eclipses in August.
If you're not able to attend live, no worries! Everyone who buys a ticket will receive the video replay and other class materials; these links will be sent to you by email shortly after the class airs. To learn more and to register, please visit https://events.humanitix.com/firehorse2026.
DAILY ASPECTS THIS WEEK (June 29 to July 5, 2026):
Monday
Mercury stations retrograde: The Messenger Planet will be retrograde in Cancer from June 29 to July 23. During this three-week period, our thinking is likely to be very subjective and influenced by our emotional state. This retrograde phase represents an opportunity for us to gain a better understanding of our feelings and how they affect our choices. We may find ourselves rethinking decisions and plans, based on what we discover.
Full Moon: The peak of the current lunar cycle occurs at 4:56 p.m. PDT today, when the Moon is at 08°14′ Capricorn, opposite the Sun at the same degree of Cancer.
Mars square nodal axis: We may regret words spoken in haste today, especially if we give in to old patterns of criticism and fault-finding.
Jupiter enters Leo: The Giant Planet will be in fiery Leo from June 29, 2026, to July 26, 2027. Jupiter magnifies the traits of the sign that it transits, and thus we will see both the positive and the shadow potentials of Leo manifest in grand style over the next 13 months. In the positive, Jupiter in Leo increases optimism, generosity, confidence, our knowing of what we believe in, and a desire to live fully in the present. At the other end of the spectrum, we are likely to see power plays, dramatic displays, egotism and arrogance, leaders who roar like lions, and a heightened need to be in the spotlight.
Tuesday
Venus sesquiquadrate Neptune: We may be unclear or confused about a relationship or a financial investment at this time. It is best to wait for the fog to clear before making long-term decisions in these areas.
Wednesday
Mars conjunct Sedna: We could experience feelings of betrayal or rejection with this aspect, perhaps due to someone's ill-timed or thoughtless words. There is a tendency to speak impulsively or to respond in anger.
Jupiter square Chiron: This aspect is the first major activation for both of these planets since they each entered new signs (Jupiter entered Leo on June 29 and Chiron entered Taurus on June 19). Insecurities could arise about having our basic needs met and the earth might feel unstable beneath our feet. As always with Chiron aspects, this is an opportunity to provide nurturing support for the inner child aspect of our being who feels overwhelmed and fearful.
Thursday
Mercury square Eris: People may be irritable and highly emotional with this aspect. Since Mercury is retrograde, it is best to carefully consider our words before speaking and to make sure we read the fine print before making a decision.
Saturn sextile Ceres: This stabilizing aspect can help us be responsible and proactive when handling concerns regarding home or family.
Friday
Mars conjunct Uranus: This is a very restless influence. People could act or speak impulsively, surprisingly, or even erratically. The mind is especially prone to nervous anxiety and could be irrational. In the positive, this can be a time of exciting breakthroughs. We are inspired to speak our truth and to take action on progressive ideas, and may rebel against restrictions in these areas.
Saturday
Mars sextile Neptune: This aspect encourages us to follow our intuition in both what we say and what we do. We might be inspired to embark on a new spiritual path, or to express compassion in our actions and words.
Sunday
Mars trine Pluto: The push for social change is very strong with this aspect. People are confident, willful, and determined, and speak with great passion.
Venus trine Eris: This aspect supports those who advocate for others, and especially for women's rights.

If Your Birthday Is This Week (June 29 to July 5, 2026):
This year, you are aware of a need to release old agendas, identities, and desires, and to trust but not control the unfolding of your life. At the same time, you may also feel a certain amount of pressure to create something new to take their places. It is important to take your time, to be aware of when you are best served by going with the flow and when it is time to initiate. As you grow through this process, you will be learning how to walk with one foot in the material world and one foot in the spiritual. (Solar Return Sun square Saturn, square Neptune)
