With many planetary currents in motion, this is a week to move thoughtfully, stay open to inner guidance, and honor both the mystical and the mundane. The week also features a powerful Sun-Mercury conjunction in Cancer at the midpoint of Mercury's retrograde phase, offering a meaningful opportunity to clarify our thoughts and feelings.
This Week's Overview:
- Neptune stations retrograde in Aries, heightening spiritual sensitivity, creative vision, and compassion — but also increasing the risk of fog, idealization, and confusion around practical matters.
- Venus enters Virgo, touching themes of healing, old relationship patterns, discernment, and the shadow of betrayal.
- The Sun-Mercury conjunction in Cancer offers key insights to guide decisions once Mercury turns direct.
- A Sabian symbol for Neptune's station — "A triangle with wings: the capacity for self-transcending" — a profound opportunity for inner growth and a new dimension of being.

NEPTUNE AT A STANDSTILL: Mystical, mysterious Neptune looms large energetically as it comes to a standstill and turns retrograde this week. When a planet nears the point of its station, it appears to move more and more slowly through the heavens; after it changes direction, it takes a few weeks to get back up to normal speed. During this time of being at a virtual standstill, we usually feel that planet's influence at a heightened level.
Neptune, like all the planets, has both positive expression and a shadow side, so there are a wide variety of "symptoms" we might experience this week. On the plus side, meditations, dreams, and the creative arts are enhanced, as our abilities to visualize and to rise above the limitations of time and space are augmented. We may also feel more in tune with "the flow" of the energies and be more sensitive to intuition and higher guidance.
Understanding, compassion, and forgiveness can be easier to access when Neptune's influence is strong. We are more able to see what we have in common with others and are less likely to judge. However, in our desire to see the best in someone, to know them only by their "soul attributes," we might miss red flags or not understand the difference between assistance and enabling.
Also on the more challenging side, it could be harder to focus on practical matters this week. We might feel somewhat foggy and unclear about our next steps. A lack of attention to details or a tendency to overidealize a situation could result in feeling disillusioned or deceived.
All of these effects will likely be experienced most directly by those who have natal planets or points between two and six degrees of cardinal signs: Aries, Cancer, Libra, or Capricorn. Neptune stations retrograde at 04°25' Aries on Tuesday, but hovers near that degree from June 29 until August 17.
SABIAN SYMBOL: To gain more insights into this very Neptunian period, we can look to the Sabian symbols, a set of 360 metaphoric images. The images, which provide symbolic interpretations of each degree of the zodiac, were created in 1925 by astrologer Marc Edmund Jones and clairvoyant Elsie Wheeler.
The symbol for the fifth degree of Aries, where Neptune stations, emphasizes many of the positive qualities of the watery planet: "A triangle with wings. The capacity for self-transcending."
Astrologer Dane Rudhyar's interpretation of this image, from his book An Astrological Mandala, reads in part:
"This is the symbol of the desire to reach a higher level of existence ... the whole being experiences a childlike longing for its eventual realization. A NEW DIMENSION of being is envisioned, mobilizing creative endeavors."
DAILY ASPECTS THIS WEEK (July 6 to 12, 2026):
ASPECTS THIS WEEK: Here are my brief interpretations of this week's most important aspects, day by day:
Monday
Sun square Saturn: Reality could feel a bit harsh or unyielding today. This aspect can manifest as feelings of frustration or even fear, due to obstacles that seem to blocking our progress. Saturn challenges us to be objective rather than emotional and rewards responsible effort and discipline.
Tuesday
Neptune stations retrograde: The world may seem a bit unreal now, and our feet may barely touch the ground at times. This Neptunian effect can be elevating spiritually and creatively, but is not as helpful for practical matters on the physical plane.
Wednesday
Venus sesquiquadrate Saturn: Minor relationship or financial challenges can result in feeling that our needs are not being met. We may sense that others are emotionally distant, or could ourselves feel more withdrawn or insecure.
Thursday
Venus enters Virgo: Venus will journey through Virgo from July 9 to August 6 this year. During this four-week period, we tend to express love by finding ways to be useful and of service to others. On the challenging side, we could over-analyze a relationship, be critical of a friend or loved one, or try to rescue another by meeting their every need.
Retrograde Mercury semisquare Mars: Conversations could be uncomfortable today, with hurt feelings easily triggered. Problems are not likely to be resolved immediately, but will require another review.
Venus trine Chiron: This aspect supports us in taking the initiative in healing relationship rifts. We feel a strong need to find solutions.
Friday
Venus conjunct South Node: Old relationship patterns may arise, manifesting as a need to control another person or being overly critical of imperfections. This alignment could also bring a relationship from the past into our awareness, either in the dream state or in person.
Jupiter sextile Sedna: This aspect helps us view a situation from a higher perspective. It also encourages us to take the next step in fulfilling our spiritual mission.
Saturday
Sun semisquare Uranus: People may be restless or tactless under this influence. Unexpected news can require that we change plans or try a different approach.
Venus square Sedna: Issues of betrayal or deception challenge us to maintain a higher, spiritual perspective.
Sunday
Sun conjunct retrograde Mercury: This alignment in Cancer provides a significant opportunity for us to clarify our thoughts and feelings. This is the midpoint of Mercury's retrograde phase; the insights we receive today can be instrumental in guiding our next steps, taken once Mercury stations direct.

If Your Birthday Is This Week (July 6 to 12, 2026):
Throughout this year, it will be important to take your time when making decisions, in spite of a tendency to be impulsive. Insights will come most clearly when you pause to reflect and maintain a level of objectivity. You are learning to be disciplined in your thoughts, so mindfulness practices could be helpful. For some, this could be a year of studying or otherwise using your intellect and communication skills to achieve a specific goal.
