The week of July 13–19, 2026 brings powerful cosmic energies as three transpersonal planets — Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto — form the foundation of a rare and life-altering "cradle" configuration that is already reshaping reality on every level. A Cancer New Moon on Tuesday invites deep emotional sensitivity and inner reflection, while Venus, Mercury, and the outer planets stir restlessness, relationship turning points, and a hunger for authentic freedom. Astrologer Pam Younghans guides us through these extraordinary skies and their meaning for our lives.
This Week's Astrological Overview:
- A once-in-many-lifetimes "cradle" configuration among Uranus, Neptune, Pluto, and Jupiter begins to fully activate, promising sweeping personal and collective transformation.
- The Cancer New Moon opens a fresh lunar cycle steeped in emotional intuition, old stories revisited, and heightened sensitivity to collective undercurrents.
- Venus forms tense angles to Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto on Monday, shaking up relationships, finances, and our habitual ways of connecting with others.
- Wednesday's Uranus-Neptune sextile expands consciousness and spiritual awareness, while Friday's Uranus-Pluto trine begins a multi-year arc of revolutionary social and technological change.
- The week closes with Mars sextile Saturn on Sunday, offering a welcome steadying influence that supports thoughtful conversation and slow, meaningful progress.

COSMIC SYNCHRONY: Transpersonal planets Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto are already in their places for an extremely rare, life-altering, and spiritually enlightening astrological configuration that will soon be fully activated. We anticipate that the impact of this "cradle" or "basket" conformation will peak next week, when the three transpersonals plus Jupiter are all at four degrees of their respective signs.
That being said, the effects of this cradle configuration are already very evident. It is triggering many changes and unexpected or sudden events on the physical plane, and also activating a sense of nervous anticipation, both mentally and emotionally. At the psycho-spiritual level, we are being gifted with greater access to high-level insights and the opportunity to form a deeper connection with our spiritual essence, our Divine Self.
We expect that significant shifts will continue to unfold this week as Uranus exactly aspects both Neptune (on Wednesday) and Pluto (on Friday). In essence, the three outer planets are creating the base of the cradle configuration, which will be completed when Jupiter arrives at four degrees of Leo. The Giant Planet will enter that degree on July 18, will precisely trine Neptune and oppose Pluto on July 20, and sextile Uranus the next day.
The Jupiter-Pluto opposition will provide the dramatic tension that sets events into motion. We are likely to see a grasp for power and control, legal and ethical confrontations, and revelations of deception and corruption.
I'll share more insights into this once-in-many-lifetimes event in next week's Journal.
CANCER NEW MOON: A new lunar cycle begins on Tuesday this week. The New Moon will perfect at 2:43 a.m. PDT on July 14, when the Sun and Moon align at 21°59' Cancer. This is the sign of the Empath, the Therapist, and the Nurturer, so we may be especially sensitive to the emotions of other people and also to those of the collective.
The New Moon is closely conjunct retrograde Mercury, reviving old stories and asking us to review and reassess our assumptions. Mercury in Cancer enhances our intuition, helping us sense the truth behind the words. Still, we are called to be discerning about the insights we receive and the news we hear since Saturn is square Mercury and the luminaries.
Communication or travel challenges might arise, and there could be a tendency to be defensive, critical, or pessimistic. Controversies are likely to be strongly stirred at the time of the lunation, due to its square to Eris, the goddess of discord.
DAILY ASPECTS THIS WEEK (July 13 to 19, 2026):
Monday
Venus square Uranus, quincunx Neptune, quincunx Pluto, semisquare Mercury: Old patterns of relating and our habitual ways of handling our resources are challenged now. We resist being told what to do and could even break our own rules. There is a strong need to be true to oneself and to make new, independent decisions. Partnerships that have been on the edge could reach a crisis point with these aspects.
Tuesday
Mars semisquare Eris and Mercury semisquare Uranus: People may be irritable and on edge today. Nervous energy is high. Opinions are expressed vehemently and not very tactfully.
New Moon: The new lunar cycle begins at 2:43 a.m. PDT today, when the Sun and Moon align at 21°59' Cancer.
Wednesday
Uranus sextile Neptune: This is a long-term aspect that perfects today for the third time. When Uranus and Neptune work together, they support an expansion of consciousness and an awakening of our spiritual gifts. We may benefit from an increased self-awareness, which enables us to change old attitudes and perspectives more easily. This aspect can also inspire new initiatives based on spiritual and humanitarian ideals.
Thursday
No major aspects are exact today.
Friday
Uranus trine Pluto: This long-term aspect is perfecting for the first time today; the two planets will be exactly trine four more times, with the last one occurring in mid-2028. Working together, Uranus and Pluto facilitate broad social change, breakthroughs in civil rights, revolutions, and a return of power to the people. Societal changes and technological innovations that occur under this influence alter the course of human history.
Saturday
Sun square Eris: People may be contentious today and react defensively.
Sunday
Mars sextile Saturn: Slow but steady progress is supported under this influence. Conversations can be more productive today, due to a wiser and more mature perspective on the issues under discussion.

If Your Birthday Is This Week (July 13 to 19, 2026):
This could be a very introspective year for you, and the insights you receive from your ruminations will be very helpful. You may benefit from expressing your thoughts and feelings in a journal or in therapy. Your review of the past might reawaken old wounds and trigger unexpressed anger; it will be important not to deny your feelings nor repress your emotions, but to understand that the part of you that is feeling fearful or vulnerable is in need of your acknowledgement, your compassion, and your understanding. (Solar Return Sun conjunct retrograde Mercury, square Chiron, square Eris)
