ON THE TREE TOPS: "When the wind blows, the cradle will rock." The wind has been blowing, and the cradle has been rocking. With Jupiter acting as the lynch pin in the "cradle" planetary configuration that perfects this week, will the bough break?
Or will the Aquarius Full Moon on July 29, which sees the Moon conjunct Pluto and the Sun conjunct Jupiter, provide the energy that will activate the greater social and individual changes that are promised—assisted by the newly-minted North Node in Aquarius?
With this week, we enter one of the most profound astrological periods of 2026, and of this entire decade. The events that occur in these final days of July and during eclipse season in August will have impact for many months or years to come.
SYNODIC CONVERGENCE: At the essence of this week's cradle configuration is the convergence of six different "synodic cycles." In astrology, a synodic cycle follows the relationship between two planets; it begins on the date that they conjoin and follows their various aspects to each other over time (the waxing sextile, square, and trine; the opposition; and the waning trine, square, and sextile). Each synodic cycle completes when the two planets have their next rendezvous—which, of course, also marks the beginning of a new synodic cycle.
Here are the six synodic cycles that are converging now, the dates that each cycle began, and their core meanings (from my recent "Off to the Races" webinar):
1. Uranus-Neptune (began in 1993): Revolutionary ideals, sudden changes, awakening of spiritual perspectives
2. Uranus-Pluto (began in 1965-66): Revolutionary overthrow, extreme events, great effort to achieve great goals
3. Neptune-Pluto (began in 1891-92): Magnetic force that creates and dissolves, spiritual transformation
4. Jupiter-Uranus (began in 2024): Need for freedom, difficulty with restraints, great eagerness for change, optimism
5. Jupiter-Neptune (began in 2022): Idealistic dreams, mystical experiences, rumors and scandals
6. Jupiter-Pluto (began in 2020): Push for power and control, legal and ethical confrontations, revelations of corruption
Of the synodic cycles involved in the cradle, the ones that will drive the most obvious change are the Uranus-Pluto cycle and the Jupiter-Pluto cycle. The start dates of both of these cycles tell us something about the energies involved: Uranus and Pluto were aligned in the tumultuous, revolutionary mid-1960s, while the Jupiter-Pluto conjunction played a significant role in the issues that were triggered by the pandemic that began in 2020.
NODAL AXIS SHIFT: Adding to the shifts occurring this coming week and providing a vital course correction for humanity, the Moon's nodal axis is changing signs. Next Sunday, July 26, the North Node will enter Aquarius and the South Node will enter Leo.
The Moon's nodal axis represents humanity's path of evolutionary growth; the positive qualities of the sign of the North Node show the traits we are called to develop, while the shadow qualities of the sign of the South Node show attitudes to be released. The nodes move backward through the zodiac, and are in a pair of signs for about 18 months.

Monday–Tuesday
Jupiter trine Neptune, opposite Pluto, sextile Uranus, opposite Juno: Jupiter takes its destined place in the cradle configuration today as it exactly aspects the three transpersonal planets. As the largest of our known planets, Jupiter's role is to amplify the effects of the other planets it interacts with. Today's Jupiter-Pluto opposition is the catalyst for activating the greater themes of the cradle, as well as each of the synodic cycles. Jupiter also contributes themes such as legal issues, religions, beliefs, ethics, and morals. With the asteroid Juno involved (and exactly conjunct Pluto this Thursday), changes this week are likely to include major shifts in loyalties, alliances, and partnerships.

Mars semisquare Chiron: People could be irritable, tactless, and on the defensive today.
Wednesday
Eris stations retrograde: Whenever a planet changes direction to go either retrograde or direct, its influence is heightened for at least a week before and after the date it stations. As the goddess of Discord and Discontent, Eris stirs up controversies and reveals issues that have been glossed over or ignored. Eris is also a strong advocate for those who have been disenfranchised, and is especially concerned about women's rights.
Uranus trine Juno: Some may feel a strong need for change in their close relationships now. This aspect helps us feel more comfortable being independent, authentic, and autonomous.
Sun enters Leo: The Sun enters the sign of the Lion at 12:12 p.m. PDT today. For the next four weeks, until Sol enters Virgo on August 22, we are encouraged to take risks, to be spontaneous, and to enjoy life to the fullest. Leo rules the heart, so we are likely to feel more generous and affectionate towards others. However, the shadow side of Leo may also be very evident, through heightened dramas, a tendency to "roar," grandstanding, and an egoic need for attention and power.
Venus quincunx Saturn: We approach relationships and financial matters with a more serious, realistic, or pessimistic attitude under this influence. Some may create physical distance, be hypercritical, or withdraw emotionally.
Thursday
Sun square Chiron: Discomfort with change, and fears related to lack and scarcity can arise at this time. As always with Chiron aspects, we benefit by being present for the child within who is feeling fearful, embracing it with acceptance, understanding, and compassion.
Mercury stations direct: Mercury completes its retrograde period at 3:57 p.m. PDT today. As we process what we have learned about our emotional and security needs over the past three weeks, we are more able to make intelligent decisions about how to fulfill those needs going forward.
Pluto conjunct Juno, Neptune sextile Juno: Relationships, partnerships, alliances, and loyalties may go through major changes under these aspects.
Friday
Mercury sextile Venus: This aspect assists in all communications and conversations. Mercury in empathic Cancer helps us speak from the heart and listen with our intuition, while Venus in practical Virgo helps us be clear about what works for us and what we truly value.
Neptune sextile Pluto: This aspect assists in the deconstruction of old divisive social structures, beliefs, political systems, and cultural biases. It helps us see the truth beneath the glamours and the façade, supports us in releasing attachment to old forms, and increases our ability to adapt to major evolutionary change.

Mars sesquiquadrate Pluto: Tensions are heightened, conversations are heated, and power struggles are likely under this influence.
